Celina's Fall Clean Sweep Is This Saturday — Here's What You Can Drop Off

The City of Celina hosts its fall bulk-trash, e-waste, shredding, and hazardous-waste event Oct. 3 at the Public Works Building.

One Morning to Clear Out Months of Clutter

If your garage holds a box of dead laptops, a can of leftover paint, and a piece of furniture that was supposed to go “somewhere eventually,” Saturday is the day to deal with all of it at once. The City of Celina’s Fall Clean Sweep runs from 8:00 AM to noon on October 3 at the Public Works Building, 10165 CR 106, Celina, TX 75009. The event is a partnership between the city’s Public Works Department and Community Waste Disposal, and it accepts several categories of material that standard curbside pickup will not touch.

What the Event Accepts

Four distinct drop-off streams are operating simultaneously, so residents can unload everything in a single trip.

Bulk trash. Oversized items that don’t fit a standard bin — old furniture, broken appliances, mattresses — qualify here. If it’s too big for the curb, bring it to CR 106.

E-waste. Electronics disposal is one of the more frustrating logistics problems in a fast-growing city. Old televisions, monitors, computers, printers, and similar devices can be dropped here rather than left to sit in storage or, worse, end up in a landfill.

Document shredding. On-site shredding is available for sensitive paperwork. For anyone who has been stacking old bank statements, tax documents, or medical records in a filing cabinet waiting for a convenient moment, this is it.

Household hazardous waste. This is the category that matters most from an environmental standpoint. Paints, solvents, pesticides, automotive fluids, and similar materials require handling that goes beyond a trash bin. The Clean Sweep gives residents a proper channel for disposal without the hassle of tracking down a permanent HHW facility.

Logistics for Saturday

The window is tight — four hours, 8:00 AM to noon — so earlier arrival is the safer bet if you have a large load or multiple categories to drop off. The Public Works Building sits on County Road 106 on the north side of the city. Residents driving in from newer subdivisions on the east side should plan for the route accordingly; CR 106 is not a high-speed corridor, and the event will likely generate steady traffic during peak morning hours.

This event is for Celina residents. If you live outside city limits or in an unincorporated area, check with your own municipality before showing up; eligibility details are on the city’s event page.

Why This Matters in a City Growing as Fast as Celina

Celina has added residents at a pace that puts consistent strain on basic services, including waste infrastructure. Twice-yearly clean sweep events — the city runs one in fall and one in spring — give the community a structured outlet for the categories of waste that accumulate fastest in households that are moving in, renovating, or upgrading electronics. A city that skips those events tends to see the evidence in illegal dumping along rural roads or HHW materials quietly added to regular trash bags.

The partnership with Community Waste Disposal handles the logistics of sorting and routing each material category to the appropriate processor. Residents don’t need to pre-sort or call ahead; just load the vehicle and follow signage at the site.

One Last Check Before You Load the Truck

A few categories that events like this commonly exclude: tires, large quantities of commercial waste, and certain pressurized containers. The city’s Clean Sweep page lists any current restrictions, and it’s worth a two-minute review before loading anything unusual. The event page at celina-tx.gov/1895/Clean-Sweep is the authoritative source for that information.

Four hours goes quickly on a Saturday morning. If October 3 works on your calendar, 8:00 AM at 10165 CR 106 is a practical use of it.
