Celina Oktoberfest 2026: What to Know Before You Go
Celina’s annual Oktoberfest returns to Downtown Square on Saturday, Oct. 3, running from 3 to 7 p.m. The festival is a fixture on the fall calendar, but 2026 brings a notable shift in how it gets done: the event has moved from the Celina Chamber of Commerce to direct city management. If you attended in previous years, the venue and the spirit are the same — the logistics are now under a different roof.
For four hours on a Saturday afternoon, the Downtown Square becomes a German-themed block party with a notably Texas flavor.
What’s on the Schedule
Food and Drink
Bratwurst is the anchor of the food lineup, and the eating competition gives the crowd something to cheer about beyond the music. Craft beer will be available on-site, making this one of the few city-managed events in Celina where adult beverages are part of the programming.
Competitions Worth Watching
The event runs three crowd-participation contests that have become signature Oktoberfest moments in Celina:
- Stein holding — competitors extend a full stein at arm’s length for as long as possible. It looks easier than it is.
- Bratwurst eating — straightforward and not for the faint of stomach.
- Keg rolling — a timed race that tends to draw younger participants and loud opinions from the sidelines.
All three are open to spectators whether or not you enter, and all three tend to draw a crowd.
The Dachshund Derby
The Dachshund Derby is its own draw. Short-legged dogs racing down a course with their owners cheering from the finish line is exactly as chaotic and enjoyable as it sounds. Live Music and Vendors
Live music runs through the duration of the event. Vendor booths round out the square, offering festive shopping alongside the food and entertainment. The city has not published a vendor count for 2026 specifically, but the Downtown Square footprint accommodates a healthy market alongside the stage and competition areas.

Parking in downtown Celina on event days fills quickly along the streets surrounding the square. The city’s $59 million Downtown Center — which includes a nearly 400-space parking garage — is still under construction and not expected to open until February 2027, so that relief is not yet available. Plan to arrive early or consider parking a few blocks out and walking in.
Admission has not been listed as ticketed. The city’s fall events, including the Friday Night Market series, are structured around free entry, and Oktoberfest follows the same model.

If you are building out your October calendar, note that the next Friday Night Market falls on Oct. 9, the Friday after Oktoberfest. That puts two consecutive weekends of downtown activity on the schedule for early October, which is unusual even by Celina’s busy fall standards.
