Most outdoor festivals in Collin County rent a parking lot or take over a downtown square. Shades of Green is using its own grounds, which means attendees wander through actual landscaping stock while food trucks idle nearby and a stage goes up among the trees.
What’s on the Schedule
The headliner is Zach Cornell, a Texas-native musician whose set anchors the live music portion of the afternoon. Cornell performs the kind of original Texas music that fits the setting without requiring explanation — no opening remarks needed when the backdrop is an established nursery and the crowd is relaxed.
Beyond the stage, the event lays out a full slate of family activities. A pumpkin patch gives younger kids something to pick through, while a kids’ maze and a corn pit add the tactile, get-your-hands-dirty element that holds attention past the first hour. A vendor market runs alongside the food and drink trucks, so the browsing options cover both local makers and something to eat.

Celina’s October is unusually dense this year. Oktoberfest takes over Downtown Square on October 3. The Friday Night Market returns on October 9. Beware of the Square, the city’s Halloween festival at the Downtown Square, runs October 24. SOG Fall Fest slots in between those anchor events, drawing on a different part of town and a different kind of venue.
That geographic spread is worth noting. The Downtown Square events pull foot traffic into the historic core. A festival at 1213 E Sunset Blvd serves residents on that side of Celina who might not make every downtown event — and gives the nursery’s regular customers a reason to show up on a Saturday afternoon rather than a weekday errand run.
